The Catalyst

The Catalyst in Newcastle is a landmark development, delivering a cutting-edge National Innovation Centre designed to drive collaboration and technological advancement. This state-of-the-art facility serves as the home of both the National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA) and the National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD), bringing together businesses, academics, and the public to foster groundbreaking research and development in these critical fields.

The project was driven by the need to provide a purpose-built space tailored to early years education, repurposing the existing structure to maximise both functionality and efficiency. The design approach prioritised a welcoming, child-friendly atmosphere while ensuring compliance with all relevant educational and safeguarding standards.
