About Me
Joshua Maddison
Chartered Architect
BAHon - MArch - PG Dip
I am a RIBA chartered Architect with over 10 years of experience working in the architectural sector. Having graduated from The University of Lincoln for the third time I am now a fully qualified, registered and chartered architect.
I have a passion for design and all things creative with specialist knowledge in the residential and educational sectors. During my career I have worked in every sector and been involved in a multitude of interesting and complex projects through all stages of the RIBA plan of work.
I am currently chair of the RIBA Gloucestershire and have been using the platform to promote and support architecture locally and to help foster the emerging architectural student body.
Outside of being an architect I have a passion for adventure & creativity. I am often inventing interesting but difficult challenges for myself, usually to be undertaken on my bike. I use these challenges to raise vital funds for charities that I have personal links to and volunteer for.

Volunteering
RIBA Glos & Wessex
Chair & Regional Representative
As Chair of RIBA Gloucestershire and Regional Chair for RIBA Wessex, I play an active role in shaping and supporting the architectural community across the region. My responsibilities range from mentoring students, arranging lectures, and delivering talks in schools to organising networking events and advocating for architects at both local and national levels.
In my role as Regional Chair, I work closely with the RIBA to discuss key industry challenges, influence policy, and strengthen connections between architects, practices, and institutions across Wessex. Through these positions, I am committed to fostering collaboration, supporting emerging talent, and championing the profession.
BDA
Volunteer Ambassador
As a Volunteer Ambassador for the British Dyslexia Association, I am committed to raising awareness and promoting a greater understanding of dyslexia. My role involves advocating for a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with dyslexia, helping to break down misconceptions and encourage open conversations.
Through my involvement, I contribute to marketing and fundraising initiatives, often integrating my passion for cycling by securing sponsorship for my endurance challenges. By leveraging these events, I aim to generate awareness, funding, and engagement, ensuring that dyslexia is better recognised and supported across education, workplaces, and beyond.
Fundraising
Charity Challenges
Every year, I take on extreme endurance challenges to raise vital funds and awareness for charitable causes. These challenges push physical and mental limits while supporting organisations that make a real difference.
Most recently, I attempted Mission 48:1000, cycling 1,000km in 48 hours to support Meningitis Now. Other notable efforts include cycling from Holyhead to Bristol in a single day for Children with Cancer UK and taking on the EFOD cycling challenge, tackling some of Wales' most formidable mountain climbs.
Beyond fundraising, these challenges serve as a platform to inspire others, demonstrating the power of perseverance and community in driving positive change.
